The Chinese Audition Program Featuring f(x)’s Amber Is Embroiled In Manipulation Rumors
The Chinese girl group survival program Sisters Who Make Waves 2023, featuring f(x)‘s Amber and actress Choo Ja Hyun, is currently embroiled in rumors of manipulation.
Mango TV‘s Sisters Who Make Waves is an audition program that gives female celebrities over 30 a chance to re-debut as a girl group. Former Miss A members Fei and Jia were in season 1, and former Girls’ Generation member Jessica appeared in season 3. The fourth season, Sisters Who Make Waves 23, featuring Amber and Choo Ja Hyun, aired its first episode on May 5.
On May 18 (KST), Taiwanese media ET Today and other international press reported that the list of 11 members who are to debut in the final group of Sisters Who Make Waves 2023 was leaked on Weibo. According to the reports, Amber and Choo Ja Hyun’s name were mentioned in the leaked debut group list. The list also allegedly named the performers who are eliminated in each round.
The list’s authenticity has not yet been confirmed—however, Chinese netizens are raising speculation that the final group to debut may be manipulated. The production team has yet to make any statements.
