The two friends talked about what it was like being a leader in their respective fields. Hyolyn stated that she was the leader of SISTAR and asked Kim Yeon Koung what one should do if they had any hardships as a leader. Kim Yeon Koung shared that being a leader isn’t easy, and there is a burden and responsibility to bring the team together. She also shared how important honesty is in leadership.

I think a leader should be honest, so I was always honest with my juniors and seniors… When we build trust and faith in each other, then they start to rely on you, then it becomes a force to work hard together.

The volleyball player also shared that being a leader meant being able to receive criticism.

You might receive praise, but you’re usually in a position to receive criticism. If you don’t consider this, I don’t think you can be a good leader. Even if you get scolded, a leader is a person who should say what they have to say.

Hyolyn agreed, saying that she was harshly honest to her members as a leader because she wanted the best for SISTAR.

I cared a lot ever since I debuted. I wanted my team to stand out and to always receive good comments wherever we went. Because of these pressures and burdens, I used to talk harshly to them.

She then laughed and admitted that she was most likely criticized a lot.

I think I was criticized as the leader, too!

Although the two are no longer leaders of their respective groups, Kim Yeon Koung playfully apologized to any teammates who may have gotten hurt by her leadership.

With hit summer songs like “Touch My Body,” “Shake It,” and “So Cool,” SISTAR became known as the summer queens who always released an exciting, colorful, and upbeat song every summer.
